The co-founder of the Tuning project, at the Seminar to define the profile of the global jurist and promote their employability

13 December, 2013

Last 11 December, the “Public Power and Business in a multilevel and transnational context” research team of the Faculty of Law hosted a working seminar at the University of Deusto as part of an interuniversity research project entitled “Employability and Law in the transnational society – Defining the global jurist profile”.

This seminar was attended by researchers from Deusto, ESADE and ICADE-Comillas and a guest researcher from Nebrija. It was also attended by Dr. Julia González Ferreras, co-founder of the Tuning project, who gave the opening speech.

The aim of this seminar was to examine the generic and specific competences that can make Law graduates more employable, in the light of increasing internationalisation.

The aim was therefore to contribute to drawing up a new professional and academic profile based on these competences, taking into account the structure of higher education (BA, Master’s and PhD degrees), without forgetting the needs required by society and economic stakeholders in 21st century.

To this purpose, a review of all the elements that make up the teaching-learning process was carried out, from contents to competences, through educational activities and student assessment.

Finally, the state-of-the art in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) was examined in order to find out the lights and shadows on the path of the long-awaited European convergence on educational matters. The texts of the papers, duly revised, and the conclusions from the project will be published shortly in a monograph by Thomson-Aranzadi.
