Research and transfer

Aristos Campus Mundus 2015, as a cluster project promoted by three universities, is presented as a joint project for scientific improvement and transfer based on a number of specialised subject areas.

The following section describes in detail the approach used to define the areas of specialisation. Broadly speaking, it should be mentioned that a specialist approach has been applied based on social challenges in large applications. This approach has combined the capabilities shown by the research teams at the three universities (existence of capability) along with the proven social demand based on independent studies. Therefore, a number of areas of expertise have been identified that we have called focus areas. As these are great social challenges, the sub-areas that will be addressed in each of them have been defined.

These four aspects form an integrated action plan that, broadly speaking, addresses:

  • The coordination of research teams at the cluster universities around the focus areas. An efficient coordination based on the definition of a number of coordination bodies known as Distributed Research Centres, which specialise in each of the focus areas.
  • Extend collaboration on R&D&I with leading international universities, such as Georgetown University, Boston College and Fordham University, with which a specific collaboration agreement has been signed.
  • The coordination of current transfer systems of research outcomes in order to undertake more and better transfer processes and projects. Therefore, the construction of transfer mechanisms based on a single-window system and joint transfer catalogue has been envisaged.
  • The definition and construction of a virtual science, technology, business and innovation park (e-park) to assist the entire Cluster and to all those bodies that wish to participate in the coordination, visualisation and optimisation of the different R&D&I aspects.

The project proposes a comprehensive vision and approach to R&D&I, which is challenge-oriented as a specialisation method. The aim is to address the different R&D&I aspects, and enhance the strength of the cluster members of the three partner universities and international partnerships with leading universities. A number of mechanisms are established to control and monitor this Plan.
